Rate of Pay: Salary commensurate with experience. Mileage reimbursed. Healthcare and retirement provided.
Job Description: The Organizer will partner with the other staff and board members in growing the overall organizing program with this young and growing worker center, focused primarily on Latinx workers. The primary role of the position will be developing organizing committees of low-wage workers in poultry and other targeted industries in St. Cloud and Central Minnesota. In partnership with other staff members, union and other coalition partners, and worker leaders, the Organizer will help lead campaigns to win changes for low-wage workers while growing sustainable worker-led organizational structures and developing workers’ leadership capacities. The Organizer will help recruit train, motivate, and work with volunteers on a day to day basis. The Organizer will conduct outreach, one-on-one, and group meetings to identify leaders, and pertinent issues faced by Latinx workers in Central Minnesota, while working to strengthen bonds between Latinx workers and Somali and other workers they work with. The Organizer will assist staff with managing databases, communications, reporting, and work with funders. Minimum 1-year labor, worker center, or other pertinent organizing experience. Vehicle greatly preferred. Spanish language required. Basic database and computer skills. Mandatory 3-month probationary period.
